TRAILER TIME:Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter

The trailer for this movie has now come out and I admit I'm intrigued by it and may just go see it. This movie and another one Pride Prejudice and Zombies are based on a series of books depicting real historical figures or favorite fiction characters as slayers, witch hunters, zombie killers etc. They were a fad a few years ago and now a couple are going to the movies, this being the first one. It's an interesting take on some historical figures, which bring a smile or two at times. At best the series can be described as fan fiction gone amuck.

BOX OFFICE:

They say if you do something enough times in a row,  your bound to have a hit. Rachel McAdams has not had the best of times lately since about 2006. She disappeared and then came back and did some mediocre movies. Although she was cast in the first Sherlock movie, her character was ignored and marganlized and in the second movie she was killed off at the beginning. Her other movies with her as lead have done pretty dismal but this time out she finally hit on the right formula. The Vow is a tearjerker, plus romance, based on true story and right before Valentines day made for a great first weekend. 41 Million at least. Good for her since she's a very good actress and with the right role can hit it out the ball park. Safehouse is yet another winner for Denzel Washington. Granted it's the same role he's played in the last 5 movies he has done but audiences still like him like this. Plus he's yet another "older" actor pulling in the audience, when young things like Robert Patterson can't get near that much on their own. Another slight surprise is the Journy 2 which looked campy and corny but seems to have gotten the tweens out. It's a good testing ground for Josh Hutchingson since Hunger Games comes out in only a few weeks time.

TRAILER TIME:Seeking a Friend for the End of the World

A different take on the whole end of world idea, the new trailer for SEEKING A FRIEND FOR THE END OF THE WORLD, has now come out. It stars Keira Knightley and Steve Carell, an unlikely pairing and yet with this trailer, I'm sold on it. They make a sweet pair, perhaps not romantic but sweet. There is no creepiness about it. This movie is a dramady so it has some dark humor in it and yet I still got a chuckle or two out of it.
Synopsis: The world is ending in three weeks due to an asteroid the military can't destroy. Dodge has just been left alone by his wife and has nothing to do but wait for death. His neighbor is in the same boat but admits she wants to see her family one last time. When circumstances throw them together they go on the weirdest road trip ever.

Enjoy the trailer below.
